“Answers to my Catholic Friends” by Thomas F. Heinze    part 4

A Catholic reply to Protestant “[mis]- Understandings” Part 4

FRIENDS, I am prefacing this section with a brief “How to Understand the Bible Lesson”

I learned something today listening to Father Mitch Pacqa [EWTN] during this mornings Mass Homily. Actually, if one were to think about it in these terms, one could easily grasp the reality and Wisdom behind the teaching.

There is a hierarchy of “Authority of Biblical Teaching” that I never gave thought too. [Shame on me]

. The Four Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are what everything else in the Bible must affirm and conform too.

WHY? Because they ARE the New Covenant Teachings of Jesus Christ who is either quoted directly or who PROMISES [God can’t break His promise] to guide, protect and personally warrant these teachings.

John.14: 26

“But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name,

he will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.”

John 20:21-22 “ Jesus said to them again,

"Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you."  And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them,

"Receive the Holy Spirit. ..

John 17:15-19 “I [Jesus] do not pray that thou should take them out of the world, but that thou should keep them from the evil one

They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them in the truth; thy word is truth. As thou didst send me into the world, so I have sent them into the world

. And for their sake I consecrate myself, that they also may be consecrated in truth”

The Gospels are followed in authority by the balance of the New Testament because it testifies to the New. Current and Eternal Covenant. Then the Old Testament which points to the New Testament.

John 14: 6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by me.

Every New Testament, especially the four Gospels,

teaching that quotes Christ Himself is to be taken literally!

One makes a GRAVE ERROR in not doing so; in trying to circumvent and apply mere human understanding to Devine Pronouncements, one puts their own salvation at Grave Risk. …

John 1: 1 -2, 9-10  “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God; The true light that enlightens every man was coming into the world.

He was in the world

and the world was made through him,

yet the world knew him not.” ..

FRIEND YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE IN THIS GROUP OF UNBELIEVERS!

“Judge NOT the Word of God by how it meets my own [limited] understanding; NO! Judge human thought; mere human understanding BY God’s ACTUAL WORDS!”

Isaiah 55:3, 6-11

“Incline your ear, and come to me; hear, that your soul may live;

"Seek the LORD while [AND WHERE] he may be found, call upon him while he is near; [In the manner Ordained by God Himself] …

let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, that he may have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says the LORD. [Thus I have provided for you certain MEN Guided and Protected by Me to Translate My Words] For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. [Which Means NOT just anyone can understand what the Bible actually teachers] "For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and return not thither but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed [Knowledge /and Understanding] to the sower [TEACHER] and bread to the eater, [RIGHT Knowledge and Understanding to those who HEAR the Word of God] so shall my word be that goes forth from my mouth; it shall not [Meaning it BETTER NOT] return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, [IF IT IS ACCPTED, Understood and APPLIED] and prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”

“What Is The Most Important Difference Between Protestants and Catholics?”

John 15: 26-27 SETS UP WHO CHRIST IS SPEAKING TOO IN JOHN 16:12-15

“But when the Counselor comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness to me; and you also are witnesses, because you have been with me from the beginning“. .

. John 16: 12-15 "I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth; [Christ hear is speaking to the Apostles and through THEM to today’s CC] for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come

. He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you. “

THIS IS FULFILLED IN JOHN 20:21-22

Isa.29: 16 ” You turn things upside down! Shall the potter be regarded as the clay; that the thing made should say of its maker, "He did not make me"; or the thing formed say of him who formed it, "He has no understanding"?… Isa.45: 9 "Woe to him who strives with his Maker, an earthen vessel with the potter! … Does the clay say to him who fashions it, `What are you making'? or `Your work has no handles'?” … Isa.64: 8 “Yet, O LORD, thou art our Father; we are the clay, and thou art our potter; we are all the work of thy hand.”

It is a fact that God, in order to be God; must be good; and must make available to every soul at least sufficient grace that they MIGHT know Him. …“Might” in this application means it is up to us to accept and correctly apply it.

Isa.43 Verses 7and 21: every one who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made." AND the people whom I formed for myself that they might declare my praise.”

Jer.5: 3 “O LORD, do not thy eyes look for truth? Thou hast smitten them, but they felt no anguish; thou hast consumed them, but they refused to take correction. They have made their faces harder than rock; they have refused to repent.”

4Ezra.9: 11 “and as many as scorned my law while they still had freedom, and did not understand but despised it while an opportunity of repentance was still open to them,”

Mark.1: 4, 15: “John the baptizer appeared in the wilderness, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. …and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent, and believe in the gospel."

I will share all of the key points and teachings of our friend Thomas, but only respond [and then briefly], to but a few of his thoughts.

Then I will share what the Catholic Church [and therefore God Himself] teaches is absolutely necessary for ones personal salvation

fully supported by the bible, because this is what Christ Himself demands. It really is a “take it or leave it proposition.

1. [A Direct quote] “We cannot merit salvation.. ‘cursed is he who does not abide by EVERYTHING [my emphasis] written in the book of the law‘ ” Gal.3:10 “God ask us to abide by “everythingNOT to be better than others. If my friends, this is actually understood and accepted; why then is it time after time disobeyed? Ignored? Or denied by the very ones making the proclamation?

Mark 1: 15 “and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent, and believe in the gospel." [THIS MEANS THE ENTIRE BIBLE, NOT JUST CULLED QUOTES].

1st. Tim.6:1-6 “Let all who are under the yoke of slavery regard their masters as worthy of all honor, so that the name of God and the teaching may not be defamed. If any one teaches otherwise and does not agree with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ [The ENTIRE Bible, not just parts of it] and the teaching which accords with godliness,  he is puffed up with conceit, he knows nothing; he has a morbid craving for controversy and for disputes about words, which produce envy, dissension, slander, base suspicions, and wrangling among men who are depraved in mind and bereft of the truth, imagining that godliness is a means of gain. There is great gain in godliness with contentment”

Romans 2: 4-6  Or do you presume upon the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience?

Do you not know that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?

But by your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God's righteous judgment will be revealed. For he will render to every man according to his works:

Ezek.18: 21 to 28 “"But if a wicked man turns away from all his sins which he has committed and keeps all my statutes and does what is lawful and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die. None of the transgressions which he has committed shall be remembered against him; for the righteousness which he has done he shall live. Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked, says the Lord GOD, and not rather that he should turn from his way and live? But when a righteous man turns away from his righteousness and commits iniquity and does the same abominable things that the wicked man does, shall he live? None of the righteous deeds which he has done shall be remembered; for the treachery of which he is guilty and the sin he has committed, he shall die. "Yet you say, `The way of the Lord is not just.' Hear now, O house of Israel: Is my way not just? Is it not your ways that are not just? When a righteous man turns away from his righteousness and commits iniquity, he shall die for it; for the iniquity which he has committed he shall die. Again, when a wicked man turns away from the wickedness he has committed and does what is lawful and right, he shall save his life. Because he considered and turned away from all the transgressions which he had committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die“.

2. But none us abides everything. BUT despite of this God has sent His Son [so God‘s Commandments and Teachings are mere suggestions???] The wages of sin is death, but the gift of god is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord [Rom.6:23]. Yes, god so loved the world that he gave his only son, that whoever believes in him may not die but have eternal life. [John 3:16]

Like Paul Harvey [may he rest in Peace] used to say: “HERE IS THE REST OF THE STORY!” Same  Bible Author, same Book and same chapter

. NOTICE that in the same book and chapter that

Jesus Himself gives TWO ADDITIONAL Essential conditions….for possible salvation. And even this is not the entire list of required elements of salvation; nor does Jesus say that it is.

I repeat: it is owing to his favor that salvation is yours through faith. That is not your doing. It is gods gift; neither is it a reward for anything you have accomplished.

Is this actually correct?
Heb.6: 10 “For God is not so unjust as to overlook your work and the love which you showed for his sake in serving the saints, as you still do.”

Rev.2: 23 “and I will strike her children dead. And all the churches shall know that I am he who searches mind and heart, and I will give to each of you as your works deserve.”

1 Peter 1: 17 “Now if you invoke as Father him who judges impartially according to each one's works, conduct yourselves with reverence during the time of your sojourning, [This means while you’re trying to fulfill all of the necessary elements required BY GOD, for our salvation].

Matt.19: 17 …. If you would enter life, keep the commandments."

John Chapter 3: [5] Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

John 3:[15] that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.????" [16] For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God sent the Son into the world, not to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him. [18] He who believes in him is not condemned; he who does not believe is condemned already, [SAME as belief in Christ real Presence] because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. [19] And this is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. [20] For every one who does evil hates the light, and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. [21] But he who does what is true comes to the light, that it may be clearly seen that his deeds have been wrought in God … [35] the Father loves the Son, and has given all things into his hand. [36] He who believes in the Son has eternal life; he who does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God rests upon him.  [ALL OF THIS IS FROM THE SAME AUTHOR, CHAPTER AND BOOK]

Nevertheless, knowing that a man is not justified by legal observance [as a FYI: this actually refers back to the 613 additions to the original 10 commandments] but by faith in Jesus Christ… for by works of “the law” no one shall be justified. Gal. 2:16

Repent of your sins because Christ died on the cross to pay the penalty for them. Not just Original sin; but all sins. The Apostle John wrote the blood of his son Jesus cleanses us from all sin. 1st. John 1:7

1st. John 1: 5-10 “This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not live according to the truth; but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.” … and what does this mean? John 20: 21-23 “Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you." And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit. [23] If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained."

God says it is Christ who saves [we Catholics are in COMPLETE agreement with this statement]. Don’t allow yourself to be sidetracked either by people who think they can be saved by works [alone assumed here?] or by the Catholic Churches claim that they dispense salvation.

[Jesus Himself in Person Gave the “key to Heavenly access to ONLY Peter and through Peter, to the CC… Matt. 16]

The Church says the sacrament of Penance is necessary for salvation

…[EXCUSE Me Thomas; but my friend, its Christ HIMSELF

[John 20:19-23]  who is Commanding it; the CC is just following God’s DIRECT - Order

There in no offense, NO SIN, no matter how serious that Catholic Priest who ARE ACTING With, Through, In AND for CHRIST cannot forgive…

Except for Denial of God Himself. It remains Christ who forgives the sins with the priest permission.
